After doing some research to find WiFi hotspots in Belfast I was disappointed to find that the majority seem to be a paid service. WiFi should be free, so if you offer a free service then please let us know. if people know about it then you never know, it might just drive more foot traffic to your store/cafe/restaurant/pub.

For now, the best i can do is share with you the various locations. BT is clearly the leader in the provision of WiFi, so if you have  BT Broadband at home, make sure you know your details so that you can access for free.

Belfast itself offers a unique balance of urban and rural, modern and ancient. For those seeking employment, there is plenty of variety and choice and despite the Credit Crunch, belfast is still attracting investment and creating jobs in some sectors. at the same time, house prices have come down significantly and are not at a level that is right having gone through what was a huge surge in valuations.

In July 2007, Belfast stepped into the future by becoming a wireless city or so the claims went. Telecoms giant BT hs revealed the city had joined its UK-wide Wireless City programme that enables people to communicate from laptops and associated mobile devices in city centres without the need for wires.

The rollout was welcomed by all and Billy McGivern, chair of Belfast City Centre Management, said: “A fully wireless Belfast marks our city out as a place which has embraced the future, and where visitors and citizens alike can communicate and do business using the most advanced technology available.

Belfast joins the likes of London (Westminster and Waltham Forest), Birmingham, Newcastle, Liverpool and seven other UK cities in the Wireless City programme.

BT said the programme would bring wi-fi access to a new level for businesses, residents and visitors in Belfast city centre.So has it worked? Whats if your opinion. Do you find it easy to get connected when in the city centre?
